John Vrionis John Vrionis

John joined Lightspeed in 2006 and focuses primarily on information technology infrastructure, with a particular investment interest in datacenter technologies; he was named a Top Investor in the Cloud market by GigaOm in 2012. In addition, John is the founder of Lightspeed’s Summer Grant Program.

Previously, he worked in product management and marketing with Determina (acquired by VMware). John was also an initial member of the executive team at Freedom Financial Network, where he helped design and implement the company’s customer relationship management software, drove its partnership strategy and managed the marketing and sales team.

John is privileged to be a continuing supporter of the management teams at Affirmed Networks, AppDynamics, Arctic Wolf Networks, Barefoot Networks, Boundary, Click Security, CloudBees, DataStax, Delphix, Embrane, Mulesoft and Tintri. His past investments include Nimble Storage (NMBL), Nicira (acquired by VMware), IO Turbine (acquired by Fusion-io) and Pliant Technology (acquired by Sandisk).

John holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and a BA from Harvard University.

Puneet Agarwai Puneet Agarwai

Puneet is a Partner at True Ventures, where he brings a strong mix of both operating and investing experience. He began his career as a Product Manager at Crossworlds Software, an early integration software startup sold to IBM. He then spent some time in technology investment banking at J.P. Morgan and later in venture capital at the Mayfield Fund, where he invested in early stage technology companies. Starting in 2002, Puneet spent four years at BEA Systems in various product management and marketing roles and also conceived, initiated, and ran BEA’s RFID initiative. He then joined Geodesic Information Systems, a mobile messaging company, in 2006 as VP of Product Management where he helped grow the company from $20M to over $80M in revenue. As part of his work, he moved to India for several months. He joined the True team in 2008.

Puneet holds a BS and MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, where he was also a Mayfield Fellow. When he is not busy working with exciting entrepreneurs at True, you can find him navigating life with his wife and two children.

William 'BJ' Jenkins William 'BJ' Jenkins

William "BJ" Jenkins, a 16-year IT industry veteran, has served as President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board Member of Barracuda since November 2012. Previously, he served as President of EMC’s Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) Division. Jenkins joined EMC in 1998 and held a wide range of EMC senior leadership roles before becoming President of the BRS Division, including serving as Chief of Staff for the division, where he led the highly successful post-merger integration of Data Domain as the foundation for the newly formed division. Under his leadership, the BRS Division contributed significantly to EMC’s growth. Over the years, he also held the positions of Senior Vice President of Global Marketing; Vice President of Telecom, Media and Entertainment and Outsourcing Sales; Vice President of Global Field Marketing and Director of Operations Global Channels. Jenkins is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he earned a B.S. degree in general engineering, and received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Matt Pfiel Matt Pfeil

Matt is Chief Customer Officer (CCO) and co-founder at DataStax, the commercial leader in Apache Cassandra™. Prior to DataStax, Matt built and managed the Email and Apps infrastructure development group at Rackspace.

Prior to Rackspace, Matt was at Webmail.us where he worked in various management roles in infrastructure and scalability. Matt holds a BS from Virginia Tech in Computer Science.

Debashis Saha Debashish Saha

As Vice President of Global Data Infrastructure for eBay Inc., Debashis Saha is responsible for leading the engineering teams that build, manage, and operate the infrastructure at the foundation of online and offline data for eBay Marketplaces and PayPal. These include SQL and NoSQL Databases, Hadoop, Data Warehouse Platforms, and Analytics & BI Products. Mr. Saha also drives innovation and business value for eBay through the strategic use of data assets across the company. In his previous roles at eBay, Mr. Saha led the development and deployment of eBay’s internal private cloud.

Prior to joining eBay, Mr. Saha was at Oracle Corporation where he designed and developed various core components of Oracle's flagship Database server including client-server protocols, middleware infrastructure and distributed transactions.

Mr. Saha earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, where he was honored with the President of India Gold Medal (PGM). He also holds a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau

Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau is a full professor in the Computer Sciences department at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where where he has taught for 15 years. He co-leads a group with his wife Andrea Arpaci-Dusseau; their work focuses on systems (broadly) but with a special emphasis on file and storage systems. Some of their innovations, including block-level storage introspection, transactional checksumming, and fast file system checking, now ship in commercial systems and are used daily by millions of people. Remzi also cares deeply about education, and has won the SACM Student Choice Professor of the Year award four times and the Carolyn Rosner "Excellent Educator" award once. Chapters from a freely available OS book he and his wife co-wrote, found at http://www.ostep.org, have been downloaded over 2 million times in the past few years; the book is in use at numerous institutions around the world.

Remzi is also an active participant in the systems community, having served on numerous program committees, as well as co-chair of USENIX ATC ’04, FAST ’07, OSDI ’10, and SOCC ’14; he is also currently an associate editor for ACM TOCS. Remzi has been a NetApp faculty fellow, an IBM faculty award winner, an NSF CAREER award winner, and has consulted for numerous storage companies including NetApp, Fusion-IO, and Huawei. Remzi also has been a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, EPFL, and Stanford (currently), and a visiting scientist at Google (also currently).

Buzz Moschetti Buzz Moschetti

Buzz Moschetti is an Enterprise Architect at MongoDB. He is the former Global Head of Architecture for the Investment Bank division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. His responsibilities there included information and software architecture vision and strategy, business applications and process development, and solutions standards and design leadership for a $2.2b budget funding 9000 professionals worldwide for all lines of business including equity & debt capital markets, listed and OTC derivatives, commodities, institutional, proprietary, and customer trading, settlement and clearance, and research. Prior to that position, he was the Chief Architecture Officer (CAO) of Bear Stearns from 2000 to 2008 with similar responsibilities. His areas of expertise include enterprise data design, systems integration, and multi-language tiered software leverage with C/C++, Java, Perl, Python, and Ruby. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Bhaskar Ghosh Bhaskar Ghosh

Bhaskar is a technologist, investor and advisor who is passionate about innovation and inflection points around big-data applications and infrastructure. He is currently VP of Engineering at Nerdwallet where he leads all its technology initiatives while building platforms and data-driven products that bring transparency and trust to consumers for their personal finance decisions. Prior to that, Bhaskar was Senior Director of Engineering at LinkedIn where he built and led the entire canvas of Data Infrastructure platforms that enabled LinkedIn's unprecedented growth in membership and business products. Previously, Bhaskar led the Serving and Marketplaces team of the Yahoo Rightmedia Exchange which built one of the first real-time bidding engines in the display ads industry. Bhaskar's initial interest in "data" grew from writing parallel database kernels at enterprise data-base companies like Informix and Oracle. He has a CS PhD from Yale and is passionate about open-source projects forming the core of big-data democracy in industry and government.
